Eagle Scout Nick Dannemiller Goes "Over The Edge" for Scouting

Post date: Aug 14, 2012 12:28:40 AM

Tualatin High School’s 2012 honors graduate, and Eagle Scout Nick Dannemiller went “Over the Edge” for Scouting on June 29, along with 59 adults (including Tualatin resident, Rob Cornilles) who were able to raise funds to have the honor of rappelling down the second highest building in Portland – the US Bancorp Building, known as “Big Pink” for the Cascade Pacific Council.

At 10:15 am, Nick was seen in his bright red AAA Oregon shirt standing on top of the edge of the US Bancorp building, 44 stories high, rocking the ropes preparing to launch himself over the edge, and by 10:45 am, he landed safely to a roar of applause from those watching across the street.   At the age of 18 years old, Nick represents the many scouts who participate in scouting activities throughout the year and has spent his last twelve years giving back to the City of Tualatin through the many projects he has volunteered for as a member of Troop 530 and Pack 35 at Byrom Elementary School.

In order to participate in such an event, the participant created their own webpage to help raise the funds.  Nick’s simple request was such:  “From the highest peaks at Philmont to our nation's Capitol, Scouting has taken me to some amazing places and provided me with some life changing experiences. On top of all that I served as Wauna La-Mon'tay's Lodge Chief this past year and saw the wide range of impact our council has on youth across Oregon and SW Washington. I believe that after all this council has done for me, I would like to give back to Cascade Pacific and to Scouting. Please help me go Over the Edge and raise money for a great cause”

The Cascade Pacific Council, BSA, serves more than 33,000 youth in 18 counties of Oregon and southwest Washington through the service and leadership of more than 11,000 volunteers. Scouting is completely funded by the generosity of our local community. Your support of Scouting provides programs, service, professional support, as well as year-round outdoor programs.

Nick would like to thank his many sponsors including AAA Oregon!  If you want to learn more about scouting including programs for sisters, and young women, go to cpcbs.org.  Go Over the Edge 2012, information available soon.
